When you bring your baby home it is important to put them in there area they will be to sleep at night.
That way they will be use to there little home. Remember they are like a newborn, so they need there rest, and to be able to eat and drink every few hours.
Low Sugar
When your little treasure comes home and they are a smaller weight it is important for them to get
some rest. Just the change of homes and new people are a lot for them to take in. It is important that they get rest different times of the day and able to always get to the food & water. Food Dish I prefer the ceramic bowl for the dry food. (You can also use the lixit water bottles). Any toy breed puppy, must have food and water at all times. There tummy is very small and they only eat a few pieces at a time. It is much easier to prevent hypoglycemia than to treat it, always keep karo syrup on hand. A quick way to check is to look at gums, if they are not pink like ours. The sugar levels are low. If they are more very light pink/white/grey, they are Extremely low and are crashing. Other symptoms slugish, not sturdy when standing. You must give karo by mouth to get sugar levels up, this is extremely important and can be fatal. Once you get the sugar level up with karo, offer a little cesar puppy food. ONLY GIVE THIS IF YOU NEED TOO. (Do not give a lot or you will have trouble getting them to eat the dry food). When you first bring your yorkie puppy home I advise you to add karo syrup in the water the first few days. Just in case they are not eating that good it will help the sugar level to stay up. You should keep them on the same puppy food. If you change the diet they may not eat or get sick. They have a sensitive stomach especially while they are young. This is why they must be able to eat & drink and go back in the area they are use too! If they are not able to get to the food and water, you can have a low sugar problem. Every few hours they must be able to snack on food.
Shots & worming schedule
All our Baby Doll Yorkies have been wormed at 2,4,6,8,10,12 weeks of age.
The shots usually start at 7/8 weeks of age, but if they are to tiny they are started at a later date. (Most customers do not know this. Large puppies such as Labs, Great Danes will get the exact same shot of a toy breed puppy). I am not a veterinarian, But will be the first to tell you... NEVER get more than 1 shot at a time. This more than likely will send your puppy into a down word spiral, as it is way to much for the system to handle. (We DO NOT advice you to get Lepto in the shots, side affects can be deadly). The American Animal Hospital Association considers Leptospirosis a “non-core” vaccine for dogs. They do not recommend it unless there is a good chance your dog will be exposed to Leptospirosis. (Heartworm disease is caused by a parasitic worm called Dirofilaria immitis. The worms are spread through the bite of a mosquito. So if your baby will stay inside to potty, one less chemical to put in or on body). I personally do not put my babies on heart worm until they are 6 months of age. Unless they are a larger puppy. (I would never take a puppy to Pet smart or be around other dogs until they have all the vaccines). Your Baby Doll Yorkie, will need to get a Well puppy visit from your Veterinarian within 3 days of receiving your baby. This way they are seen by my Vet and yours, this will also lock in your guarantee for health with our contract.
PARVO VIRUS LIVES IN DIRT & GRASS PUPPIES NOT FULLY VACCINATED CAN GET PARVO. DO NOT LET THEM GET DOWN OUTSIDE UNTIL ALL SHOTS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED. IT IS VERY SERIOUS AND IS DEADLY...
This is what your baby has been use to here
I suggest you put a little karo in the water the first few days. This will help his/her sugar level stay
up some if they are not eating up to par. Food and other items we use are below... It is important to let
them snack on food every few hours. As they do not eat a meal like you and I do. The tummy is to small so they snack often. Just remember they are Extremely Smart so if you hold them all the time and you do not put them in there area. That will be exactly what they want. Yorkies are very smart!!! and consistency
is the key with them from the time you bring them home.
I get the Iris pen that
has 4 panels. I also get the 2 extra panels That way they have an area to play.
2 extra panels will
make it 6' x 3'
this size fits under the fence
Your baby is use to a "Iris pen" I get them at chewy or amazon. I order the 4 section pen & the
2 extra panels. This gives you 6 panels and I shape it in a oblong position. Potty pad is down one
end, I buy the XL Potty Pads they fit Under fence.
There are different kinds and size so be sure to pick up the correct one. Our puppies are socialized and raised with love to prepare them for their new homes. We also work hard to get them potty trained to the pad.
I always use products that are USA made. Nylabone Healthy Edibles are wonderful for puppies and adult dogs. (These are made from real food not plastic). It melts so they won't choke. I get the chicken flavor for puppies it is easier for them to digest.
Karo syrup should be added to there water the first 3 or 4 days. This will help the sugar level stay elevated.
Nutri-Cal will help appetite for puppy, that is not eating well.
Bil-Jac small treats, I start giving after they are 6 months of age. They are soft and easy to split in half, so they don't choke. They love liver!
children toothbrush is a great shape to use for the dogs.
ARE GREAT FOR KEEPING EARS SHAVED DOWN, BOTTOM OF PAWS, PRIVATE AREAS.
IF EARS NEED TO BE BRACE UP AGAIN. This tape is great because it can breath.
A sample for how to tape ears
Very important to keep ears shaved, the top triangle portion of ears. This is very important as the weight of the hair will pull the ear down. Also, when they are teething the cartilage in the ear can soften and the ear can flop. You can wait a few days and see if it comes back up on its own. If not re-tape the ear as shown above. Then tape with surgical breathable plastic tape. Look at sample below to see how ears are taped up. You can use the "tear mender" glue and take ear hair on edge, toward the top of head and glue to hair on top of head together.
I USE FOR FACE ON PUPPIES & ADULTS
THIS SHAMPOO IS WONDERFUL FOR ALL COAT TEXTURES.
Coat handler conditioner is a great product. IF there coat is dry you can leave it in to soften and moisturize the coat. If it's normal then rinse out.
